Our Practice

The practice is called Blue Ridge Clinical Associates because it first opened on Blue Ridge Road in Raleigh, in 1989. We later moved to our present location on the outskirts of Chapel Hill, close to I-40.

Our aim is to provide an office that is as pleasant as we can for people who come to see us. So it is small, personal, has parking space right outside, and even has good books to read in the waiting room. Instead of having a whole department of administrative people, we have just one office assistant, Becca: the person who answers the phone is the same person who greets you when you walk in the door.

As well as the physician, Dr. Alan Spanos, the office hosts a massage therapist, Cindy Rubel (LMBT 2721), and a physical therapist, Cheri Hall. We also collaborate closely with Dr. Zhenjiang Chen whose office is adjacent to ours and who specializes in acupuncture. Also next door are our colleagues at Chapel Hill Compounding, a pharmacy that specializes in making medications individualized for specific patients' needs.

For services that we don't have "in house," we arrange for them wherever is most convenient for the patient. When we need input from other doctors such as surgeons or neurologists, we involve the patient in the decision, and then do all we can to ensure that the appointment is as prompt and as convenient as possible.
